On this page
Talkiatry offers scheduled virtual psychiatry using accepted health insurance. Its therapy service is available through a Talkiatry psychiatrist’s referral, not as a separate direct-to-consumer therapy subscription.
Company history and ownership
A February 2021 company release dates Talkiatry’s founding and launch to April 2020 and names co-founders Robert Krayn and Georgia Gaveras.
On February 12, 2026, Talkiatry announced $210 million in Series D financing led by Perceptive Advisors. The announcement also describes a debt facility from Banc of California. It identifies Krayn as CEO and Gaveras as chief medical officer and describes relationships with health systems. It does not provide a complete capitalization table, establish a controlling investor or say that $210 million is the amount of equity alone.
The About page distinguishes Talkiatry Management Services, LLC from the independently owned psychiatry practice using its brand and administrative services. The terms name MCCD-branded physician-owned entities providing clinical services. The management company’s investors should not automatically be described as owners of those practices.
Services and appointment access
The FAQ describes virtual psychiatric appointments and child and adolescent services beginning at age five. Customers complete an assessment and insurance check before matching. Therapy requires an existing Talkiatry psychiatry relationship and an internal referral. The company says it does not provide emergency care.
Talkiatry’s location directory listed zero clinicians for Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, North Dakota and Wyoming on September 8, 2026. That is a dated directory observation, not an independent licensing check. A state or city landing page does not establish an in-person office, a particular clinician’s current openings, or coverage under every insurance plan. A virtual visit depends on a clinician licensed in the patient’s state.
Costs and insurance
The current insurance page says Talkiatry does not offer self-pay enrollment and does not accept Medicaid. Coverage should be checked for the specific plan, not just the insurer’s brand.
| Cost component | What the published information establishes |
|---|---|
| Psychiatry visits | Billed to accepted insurance; the insurer determines the patient’s share |
| First visit versus follow-ups | The first visit is usually longer and can cost more |
| Advertised $30 figure | A company-reported patient-cost statistic, not a price ceiling or individual quote |
| Prescription costs | Not established as included in the visit charge |
| Late cancellation or rescheduling | FAQ lists $100 with less than 48 hours’ notice |
The insurance page’s estimate can change with the deductible and coverage details. Talkiatry says it checks network status before the first visit and will cover that appointment if its network verification was mistaken. That limited promise is not a guarantee against all deductibles, uncovered services or later bills.
The terms authorize charging a stored payment method for outstanding balances. Their reference to “self-pay amounts” does not override the current enrollment page’s statement that a self-pay option is unavailable.
In a February 2024 advertising alert, consumer-advocacy organization Truth in Advertising questioned Talkiatry’s $30 marketing and reported readers’ unexpectedly high bills. Its December 16 update said that claim had been removed. The current website again uses a qualified $30 patient-cost statistic. This is advocacy criticism, not a regulator’s finding; Talkiatry’s current explanation says an individual’s cost depends on insurance coverage.
Cancellation and billing questions
The FAQ says no cancellation fee applies when a visit is cancelled more than 48 hours ahead and that patients are not obliged to continue care. The published wording does not resolve the exact boundary at 48 hours; confirm it when changing an appointment. Ending care does not erase charges for visits already completed.
The terms state that incorrectly charged amounts will be refunded. The reviewed pages do not establish a blanket refund guarantee for completed consultations or a universal total cost for an ongoing course of visits.
Litigation
Talkiatry Management Services is the defendant in Jane Doe v. Talkiatry, case 5:25-cv-00781 in the Central District of California. A May 7, 2026 protective order governs confidential discovery in the case. It establishes a proceeding, not a finding of wrongdoing. This profile has not verified the reported merits ruling or a final outcome; the protective order should not be read as either.
Privacy and the linked vendor incident notice
Talkiatry was among the recipients addressed in July 20, 2023 general OCR/FTC warning letters about tracking technologies and potential health-information disclosures. This correspondence is not a company-specific enforcement action or liability finding, and is separate from the vendor incident below.
The platform privacy policy, effective July 3, 2026, and the separate clinical privacy notice, effective July 26, 2026, describe different information-handling roles. Neither is an independent assessment of compliance by this publication.
On September 8, Talkiatry’s website displayed a notice that a vendor incident affected some patients’ or primary insureds’ protected health information. It links to a TriZetto Provider Solutions notice hosted by Kroll. TPS reports discovering suspicious activity on October 2, 2025 involving insurance-eligibility records accessed beginning in November 2024. Depending on the individual, potentially affected information includes names, birth dates, addresses, Social Security numbers, insurance identifiers and other health or coverage information. TPS says payment-card and bank-account information was not affected.
This is a vendor-incident disclosure, not evidence that Talkiatry’s own systems were breached or that every patient was affected. The linked monitoring offer displays an August 9, 2026 enrollment deadline, already past at this profile’s verification date; it should not be assumed to remain open.
Availability claims
One row per jurisdiction and reported status. Scopes that share a status, attribution, source and observation date are listed together in a single row; a scope the company reports differently keeps its own row. "Company / platform" means the company as a whole, not every service. "Company-reported" means the company said it; it has not been independently checked unless the attribution says so. Read each row's note.
