Blueberry Pediatrics

A membership-based pediatric telehealth service, launched in 2021 by Delaware-incorporated SparkMD, Inc., that gives families unlimited 24/7 chat, phone, and video access to board-certified pediatricians for a flat monthly or annual fee plus a one-time home medical kit, sold directly to parents and, under partnerships announced in 2026, through Medicaid health plans and employer benefits.

What the company does

Blueberry Pediatrics sells a subscription to a team of board-certified pediatricians. A member family opens the app, chats with the pediatric team, sends photos, video, and vitals captured with a home medical kit, and, the company says, speaks with a pediatrician within minutes at any hour, including nights and holidays. The membership covers every dependent child in the household for one flat fee, with no per-visit charge, and the company positions itself as a supplement to, not a replacement for, a child’s primary pediatrician.

The same service is sold to health plans and employers. In 2026 the company announced benefits for eligible Medicaid members of CareSource Nevada, SilverSummit Healthplan in Nevada, and Community Health Choice in Southeast Texas, each with the age and rollout limits described below, and an employer offering through Carrot; it also carries a member page for Community Care Plan in Florida. Those announcements date the partnerships, not the company’s first entry into those channels.

History and ownership

The operating company is SparkMD, Inc., a Delaware corporation that its January 2022 SEC Form D says was incorporated in 2017; the Y Combinator directory also gives 2017 as the founding year and lists the company in the Winter 2018 batch. The company does not state a current headquarters on its site. Its addresses in the sources are dated and functional: Mountain View, California on the 2022 Form D, the August 2025 release dateline, and the Google Play developer listing; and San Francisco in the Y Combinator directory. This profile records those rather than a current headquarters. The consumer service launched publicly on March 15, 2021 in six states, although the App Store lists an app version from November 2018, so the service predates the formal launch announcement.

Company materials name three co-founders: Harrison Gordon, who signed the Form D as chief executive and became president in 2025; Jonathan Kahan, quoted as chief medical officer in the March 2021 launch release; and Dr. Lyndsey Garbi, whose company bio and the current roster describe her as pediatrician and chief medical officer. When that role changed is not stated. On August 19, 2025 the company announced Rich Berner, formerly chief executive of MDLive, as chief executive and Mike Waters, formerly chief operating officer of Teladoc Health, as executive chairman.

The Form D, the only one on file for the company, reported an equity offering of $9,630,895 with $9,301,857 sold to 61 investors as of January 2022 and a first sale on December 21, 2021. Y Combinator is the investor the company itself names, and MS&AD Ventures lists Blueberry in its portfolio. The 2022 filing is the documented offering reviewed; no later financing, revenue, or valuation appears in the sources checked, and total capitalization is not verified. The Terms of Use say SparkMD, Inc. contracts with Blueberry Medical PA, described as an independent, physician-owned medical group, for the clinical services, and that SparkMD itself provides no medical care.

Services and clinical model

Visits mix asynchronous chat with live phone and video, and the telehealth consent lists health records, images and asynchronous messages, live two-way audio and video, store-and-forward audio, and device data among the modalities. The company says its pediatricians are all board-certified; its roster page carried 61 distinct physician cards (MD or DO) on September 7, 2026, a page tally rather than verified employment or licensure, and other pages say “50+ pediatricians and specialists.” The FAQ says care is available from birth until a child’s 21st birthday.

The home kit contains a wireless otoscope for ear, nose, and throat images, a finger pulse oximeter, and an oral thermometer, with a forehead thermometer added for annual members. The what-we-treat page lists common acute conditions and says strep and flu are treated when an at-home rapid test is positive, urinary infections with lab testing, and that labs can be ordered to Quest Diagnostics at discounted rates; rapid strep tests must be prescribed and purchased in advance, and those tests and any lab work are separate purchases, not part of the unlimited visit fee. It directs families to their primary pediatrician for wellness visits and physicals, chronic-condition management, anything needing bloodwork or imaging, specialist referrals, vaccines, ADHD management, and illnesses needing stool samples. The company also markets developmental, social-emotional, and mental-health screening for members and a separate autism assessment, which its page currently offers for children 18 months to 5 years old. Inside Telehealth reports these as the company’s descriptions and does not evaluate the care.

Availability

The company’s statements differ by page and date. The FAQ read on September 7, 2026 says the service is available in all 50 states plus DC and can be used while traveling anywhere in them. An undated company post announcing Virginia lists 24 states, and the March 2021 launch release listed California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. The health-plan benefits are limited to each plan’s eligible members and were announced with limits: CareSource Nevada members 18 and younger, with members in Clark and Washoe counties able to register from April 1, 2026 per the February release; Community Health Choice members with children up to 19 living outside Harris County in the initial rollout phase per the May release; SilverSummit Medicaid families statewide in Nevada; and Carrot for children under 12. Whether any of those initial limits has since changed is not stated in the sources checked. Inside Telehealth has not tested sign-up in any state.

Pricing and insurance

The pricing page on September 7, 2026 offered a monthly membership at $29 per month plus a $100 medical kit, and an annual membership at $18 per month, which the FAQ states as $216 per year, plus the same $100 kit and a bonus forehead thermometer. The company says there are no per-visit, per-child, after-hours, or copay charges, that insurance is neither required nor billed for visits, and that a family that cancels and later reactivates pays a re-enrollment fee. Its refund policy headlines a satisfaction guarantee on the last month’s membership; its terms say membership fees charged within the prior 30 days and unused future months are refundable, that an annual member’s used months are recalculated at the standard monthly rate rather than the annual rate, that enrollment and kit fees are not refundable, that promotional devices such as the forehead thermometer may be deducted, and that the account is canceled once a refund is issued. On those terms an initial annual membership plus kit comes to $316 and twelve monthly payments plus kit to $448 before any tests or labs, which are calculations, not observed checkout prices. An autism assessment is priced at $499 flat for children 18 months to 5 years, with a refund for inconclusive results; the page describes a two-part assessment and, in its preparation FAQ, three 30-minute calls including a results discussion. The undated Virginia post quotes older prices of $20 per month or $180 per year, which differ from the dedicated pricing page’s figures on September 7, 2026. Members of partner health plans and employer programs get the membership, and in at least one case the kit, at no cost to them. The pricing page’s savings comparisons and its claim that families save $281 a year on average are the company’s figures.

Health plans, employers, and partnerships

The company’s health-plan page says it works with Medicaid, marketplace, and commercial populations and makes utilization, emergency-department savings, and satisfaction claims that Inside Telehealth has not evaluated. Partnerships announced in 2026: CareSource Nevada for Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check-Up members 18 and younger, with a phased county rollout (February 17); Carrot for employer parenting benefits covering children under 12 (February 18); Community Health Choice for eligible Texas Medicaid members with children up to 19 outside Harris County in the initial phase (May 27); and SilverSummit Healthplan statewide in Nevada (June 1). The site also carries a member page for Community Care Plan in Florida and a page for practices that want after-hours coverage for their patients.

The Terms of Use, last revised February 17, 2026, contain a binding arbitration agreement and a class-action waiver. The company’s HIPAA notice of privacy practices carries an effective date of August 4, 2020. A September 7, 2026 web search found no enforcement or adverse-action record from the FDA, the FTC, a state regulator, or a court naming Blueberry Pediatrics, SparkMD, Inc., or Blueberry Medical PA; that is a scoped search of those sources, not a clearance, and an unrelated Idaho medical practice using a similar name is not this company.

Scale and operating context

The homepage says the company is “trusted by over 100,000 parents,” a company figure with no date or definition. The Y Combinator entry lists a team size of 15. On September 7, 2026 the Google Play listing showed more than 10,000 installs and a 4.0 rating from about 152 reviews, and the App Store listing a 4.5 rating from 448 ratings. No revenue, member, or visit count appears in the sources checked.

Evidence and limitations

This record establishes the company’s legal identity, incorporation, the one documented financing, founders and 2025 leadership, service and kit, pricing and refund terms, and the partnerships announced in 2026 from its own pages, an SEC filing, company and partner releases, an accelerator listing, an investor’s portfolio page, and app-store listings, all read on September 7, 2026. Accelerator and investor listings are provenance for investment, not independent reporting. It makes no clinical claims and does not evaluate the care, the kit’s diagnostic value, or the company’s savings and utilization claims. State availability is recorded as the company states it, with its inconsistencies; partnership limits are as announced and may have changed; the roster count is a page tally; the parent count is the company’s; no current headquarters is asserted. No Internet Archive capture from the observation date was recorded for the cited pages.
