What the company does
Hims & Hers is a consumer health platform that connects patients with licensed healthcare professionals through online intake and telehealth workflows. If a clinician determines that treatment is appropriate, the platform can coordinate prescriptions and fulfillment. Its current service areas include sexual health, hair loss, weight care, dermatology, mental health, hormone health, and laboratory testing.
The company operates the consumer brands Hims and Hers. It is not itself a substitute for emergency or in-person care, and treatment eligibility varies by patient, state, service, and clinician judgment.
History and ownership
Hims launched in November 2017 and Hers followed in 2018. The company’s current history page names Andrew Dudum, Jack Abraham, and Hilary Coles in its launch story; earlier company investor releases also identify Joe Spector as a founder. The company says it expanded service availability to all 50 states in 2020. A January 2021 SEC filing records that its merger with Oaktree Acquisition Corp., a special-purpose acquisition company, closed on January 20, 2021.
Hims & Hers Health, Inc. is incorporated in Delaware and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker HIMS. Its 2025 annual filing lists its principal executive offices in San Francisco.
The company completed its acquisition of teledermatology company Apostrophe in July 2021, and its history page also lists the 2021 acquisition of United Kingdom healthcare platform Honest Health. Its 2025 annual report records the completion of the ZAVA acquisition in July 2025 and the acquisition of Medici Technologies Inc., operating as Livewell, in November 2025; a December company release describes its Canadian expansion as following that acquisition. On June 2, 2026, Hims & Hers announced completion of its acquisition of Eucalyptus, which added operations in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
Services and clinical model
Hims & Hers describes a process in which patients complete an online intake and identity-verification workflow and a licensed provider determines whether treatment is appropriate. The encounter may be asynchronous; the company says live audio or video may be required in some states or circumstances. A July 2026 government complaint disputes how parts of the intake, treatment-approval, and billing flow operate for many consumers; see Regulatory, legal, and privacy context below.
The company says its affiliated provider network consists of independent, licensed practitioners. Its 2025 annual report reported 1,586 medical providers serving through affiliated medical groups across all 50 states as of December 31, 2025. Company webpages reviewed September 3, 2026 displayed different marketing counts: more than 400 U.S.-licensed providers on the company overview and more than 800 nationwide on the clinical-excellence page. The pages do not define why those scopes differ, so the figures are not directly comparable. None is an independent measure of care quality.
Prescription offerings may include generic, branded, or compounded medications when prescribed. According to the company’s 2025 annual report, most prescription fulfillment occurs through pharmacies it owns. Patients should confirm the specific prescriber, pharmacy, medication, formulation, refill cadence, and cancellation terms before purchasing.
Availability
Hims & Hers says it serves all 50 U.S. states. A service shown on the national website may still be unavailable to a particular person because of state rules, clinical eligibility, age, or the availability of an appropriate clinician.
Following the Eucalyptus acquisition, which the quarterly report says closed on June 1, 2026, the company’s June 2, 2026 completion release described a leading presence in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada and a growing presence in France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, and Japan. This profile primarily describes the U.S. service; products, provider arrangements, and payment models in other countries may differ.
Pricing and insurance
There is no single Hims & Hers price. Cost depends on the care category, medication, dose or formulation, supply length, and billing cadence. Many programs are subscriptions billed on cycles ranging from roughly monthly to annual, although the available cadence varies by treatment.
A Hims support article updated August 25, 2026 instructs customers to cancel through the app or website at least 48 hours before the next order date and says cancellation does not stop an order already processing or shipped. Inside Telehealth reviewed those public instructions on September 3 but did not test the logged-in cancellation flow. Weight-loss members have separate controls: a dedicated article updated August 26, 2026 says a member chooses whether to turn off auto-renewal for the medication or for the membership; cancelling the membership also cancels associated medication and keeps access through the current billing period, while cancelling only the medication leaves the membership active and charged monthly. The FTC complaint discussed below alleges that Hims made cancellation difficult, including by obscuring the cancellation option; Hims disputes the lawsuit’s allegations.
The 2025 annual report says that customers in the United States and most of the company’s international markets generally pay directly rather than through insurers or other third-party payors. This means an advertised program price should not be assumed to be an insurance copay or the patient’s total long-term cost.
On September 6, 2026, Inside Telehealth read the company’s U.S. weight-loss page from an Internet Archive copy captured August 31, 2026, because the live page served an access challenge to scripted access. It advertised a Weight Loss Membership at $39 for the first month, auto-renewing at $149 per month, billed separately from medication and neither including nor guaranteeing a prescription; medication is not available without the membership. The page’s medication list, in its order, showed: Wegovy pill from $149 per month; Wegovy pill microdosing plan from $149; Wegovy pen from $199; Zepbound vial from $299; Zepbound KwikPen from $299; Foundayo pill from $149; Ozempic pill from $149; Ozempic from $199; Mounjaro $1,899; and Zepbound $1,899 per month. The page said the medication fee is FSA/HSA-eligible while the membership fee is not, and that insurance is not required. These are advertised starting prices for one program on one date, not quotes; other Hims & Hers programs are priced separately and were not observed. On September 7, 2026 the live page still refused scripted access; Inside Telehealth rechecked the August 31, 2026 archive capture, which still showed these figures, and live pricing remains unverified; the cancellation article’s help-center revision date was unchanged at August 25, 2026.
Regulatory, legal, and privacy context
On July 29, 2026, the Federal Trade Commission, Utah Division of Consumer Protection, and Los Angeles County Counsel acting for California filed a complaint against Hims & Hers in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The complaint alleges that the company shared consumers’ health information with Meta, Snap, and other advertising platforms; charged and enrolled many consumers in prescription subscriptions without a chance to review or approve the treatment; inadequately disclosed refill timing; and obstructed cancellation, including by hiding the cancellation button. It alleges violations of the FTC Act, the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, and state consumer-protection laws. These are allegations, not adjudicated findings. The FTC states that it files a complaint when it has reason to believe the law is being or is about to be violated, and that the court will decide the case.
Hims & Hers responded the same day, calling the claims baseless, saying customers have the information needed to make informed choices, and stating that information shared with healthcare providers is used only to provide care. The company said it would defend the case vigorously. Its quarterly SEC filing for the period ended June 30, 2026 likewise says it believes it has meritorious arguments and reports an approximately $60 million legal-contingency accrual for the matter; it cautions that the amount and outcome may change.
FDA sent separate Hims and Hers warning letters on September 9, 2025 concerning website claims that compounded semaglutide used the same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy and had “clinically proven ingredients.” FDA said the claims misleadingly implied equivalence to FDA-approved products and rendered the compounded products misbranded; compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. Hims & Hers’ 2025 annual report says it responded to both letters on time. The report also discloses a December 2025 FDA warning letter to its 503B outsourcing facility over a missing adverse-event report and deficient reporting procedures; the company says it responded on time and has taken corrective and preventive actions.
On February 6, 2026, FDA named Hims & Hers in a statement announcing that it intended to restrict active pharmaceutical ingredients intended for non-FDA-approved compounded GLP-1 drugs mass-marketed as alternatives to approved drugs. FDA said it could not verify those drugs’ quality, safety, or efficacy and reiterated restrictions on misleading equivalence and efficacy claims.
The company’s June 2026 quarterly filing says that, also in February, the HHS General Counsel issued a public statement indicating that HHS had referred Hims & Hers to the Department of Justice for investigation of potential violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and applicable Title 18 provisions. The filing does not report a charge or finding and says it was unclear what action FDA, HHS, or DOJ might take. It also says the company announced a March 2026 shift toward access to branded GLP-1 medications while offering compounded GLP-1 products on a limited scale in the United States.
The same filing discloses that SEC Enforcement opened a separate investigation in February 2026 concerning public statements and disclosures about compounded semaglutide and related business relationships. The company says it is cooperating and cannot predict the outcome. These FDA, HHS/DOJ, and SEC matters concern compounded products, promotion, reporting, or related disclosures; the FTC/state case separately concerns alleged privacy, treatment-approval, subscription, billing, and cancellation practices.
The same June 2026 quarterly filing lists private suits. Two putative securities class actions filed on June 25, 2025 in the Northern District of California were consolidated as In re Hims & Hers Health, Inc. Securities Litigation, No. 25-cv-05315; the amended complaint of January 29, 2026 covers purchasers between April 29 and June 22, 2025 and concerns statements about the company’s relationship with Novo Nordisk, and the company says it does not consider a loss probable. Three related shareholder derivative suits filed in July and August 2025 are stayed. Novo Nordisk sued the company in the District of Delaware on February 9, 2026 (No. 1:26-cv-00143, printed as 1:26-cv-0014 in the quarterly filing) for alleged infringement of a semaglutide patent by compounded products sold through the platform, then voluntarily dismissed the case without prejudice on March 9, 2026, reserving the right to refile. After the FTC action, a putative consumer class action, Doe v. Hims & Hers Health, Inc., was filed in the Northern District of California on substantially the same facts; the company says it will defend it and cannot estimate a loss. The filing also discloses that Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration issued compulsory notices to Eucalyptus subsidiaries between September 2023 and August 2025 in an investigation of alleged non-compliance with Australian prescription-medicine advertising rules, a matter the company says is covered by acquisition indemnities. On September 3, 2026, the law firm Hagens Berman announced a further securities class action tied to the FTC complaint, describing a class period of August 4, 2025 to July 29, 2026 and a lead-plaintiff deadline of November 2, 2026; the announcement does not identify the court, and no company filing had described that case when this profile was checked. All of these are allegations or company disclosures, not findings.
Scale and financial context
Hims & Hers reported 2.511 million subscribers at December 31, 2025 and approximately 2.891 million at June 30, 2026. The company defines subscribers as customers on recurring billing plans, so the metric excludes one-time purchasers and is not equivalent to the number of unique patients treated.
It reported 2025 revenue of approximately $2.35 billion ($2,347.6 million), up 59% from $1,476.5 million in 2024. For the second quarter of 2026, the company reported approximately $753 million in revenue, a 38% increase from the corresponding quarter a year earlier. These are company-reported financial and operating metrics; the quarterly figures were unaudited when released.
AI and personalization
Hims & Hers describes MedMatch as a system using artificial intelligence and machine learning to help providers consider treatment options. The company says its personalization capabilities draw on more than five million anonymized data points. That statement describes the company’s technology and dataset claim; it does not by itself establish that an AI-assisted treatment selection produces better clinical outcomes than another care model.
The FTC complaint’s allegations concern information allegedly shared with advertising platforms; they do not establish what data MedMatch uses or how its inputs are governed. Useful follow-up questions include what information influences recommendations, when a clinician overrides an automated suggestion, how performance is validated across patient groups, and what notice or choices patients receive about secondary data uses.
Evidence and limitations
This record establishes the company’s identity, operating model, broad service lines, reach, payment model, and reported scale from primary sources. It does not rate clinical quality, establish that every advertised treatment is appropriate for every patient, or independently validate the company’s technology claims.
Pricing and treatment catalogs can change quickly. Representative live checkout pricing, treatment-specific eligibility, and the logged-in cancellation flow remain untested. The legal and regulatory matters above were checked through September 7, 2026 and may change. Readers should confirm current details directly and seek individualized advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
