Company profile
Sesame
A venture-backed cash-pay marketplace, live since 2020, where independent physicians and other providers list fixed upfront prices for video and in-person visits, prescriptions, labs, imaging, and dental care, with company-reported telehealth availability in all 50 states and in-person listings that vary by location, an optional Sesame Plus membership, employer and Costco programs, a fertility program with the clinic network IVI RMA, and a weight-loss program built around branded GLP-1 medication.

What the company does
Sesame runs a marketplace rather than a clinic. Physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, dentists, labs, and imaging centers list services at fixed prices that the patient pays upfront, and the patient chooses a provider from listed prices, time slots, and reviews. Video visits are the core product, and the site also lists in-person specialty, dental, lab, and imaging appointments in some places. The Terms of Service describe the clinical services as provided by “independent third party Providers not related to Sesame,” and the homepage carries a notice that care is delivered by independent provider practices using the Sesame platform. Sesame says it is not a pharmacy.
The company positions itself for uninsured people and people with high-deductible plans: it does not bill insurance for visits, and its 2022 investor coverage said just over 60 percent of its patients had some insurance anyway. Around the marketplace it sells a Sesame Plus membership, an employer program called Sesame @ Work, condition-specific programs for urgent care, mental-health prescriptions, weight loss, sexual health, dermatology, and pediatrics, and it runs discounted programs for Costco members and, since March 2026, a fertility program with the clinic network IVI RMA.
History and ownership
The company was formed in Delaware in 2018 as EasyCare Health, LLC, the name on its first SEC Form D in November 2018, and became Sesame, Inc. by its October 2019 Form D; the EDGAR record lists the former name through November 13, 2018. A February 5, 2024 company post says the team “set out” on February 5, 2019, and the marketplace went live in mid-2020 according to TechCrunch; the 2018 formation, the 2019 start and the 2020 launch are different events, and none is used here as a single inception date. The 2018 and 2019 filings give a Brooklyn business address, the Terms of Service give a Manhattan notice address at 200 Broadway, the Better Business Bureau lists the same street, releases are datelined New York City, and TechCrunch called the company New York City-based in 2022; no page checked states a current headquarters, so this profile records those addresses without asserting one.
David Goldhill, a former television executive and author on U.S. healthcare costs, is co-founder and chief executive and signed both Form D filings; the BBB profile lists Dr. Michael Botta, PhD, as president and co-founder. The Form Ds record $3.4 million sold to 13 investors in 2018 and $23.6 million sold to 42 investors in 2019. The company’s June 14, 2022 release announced a $27 million Series B led by GV and said the company had raised $75 million to date; no later financing appears in the sources checked, and no revenue or valuation is disclosed.
Services and clinical model
Visits are live video appointments with a provider the patient selects; the urgent-care page describes same-day slots, prescriptions sent to a local pharmacy or mailed, and availability in all 50 states. The homepage adds an AI assistant that routes a patient’s request to symptom checks, refills, urgent care, or weight-loss medication before a human visit. Providers set their own prices and availability and are paid weekly, according to the provider-recruitment page, which says listing is free. The company does not publish a provider count beyond the homepage’s “10K+ board-certified providers” and the 2022 coverage’s “more than 2,500.”
The weight-loss program has changed with the market. In August 2024 the company launched Success by Sesame, a $249-per-month program including compounded semaglutide from a 503B compounding pharmacy “at cost,” during the branded-drug shortage. On January 22, 2026 it announced that it is a NovoCare Recognized Care Provider for the Wegovy pill, with the program starting at $99 per month and medication at $149 per month self-pay or as low as $25 with commercial insurance. The current program page, read September 7, 2026, describes a subscription of ongoing video visits, provider care, labs and messaging at $99 per month on a month-to-month plan billed every 28 days, or “as low as $59/mo” on an annual plan billed once every 12 months, with 3- and 6-month plans in between; it says cash-pay GLP-1 medications start at $149 per month, that medication cost is not included in the program price and may vary with a discount card or insurance, and that insurance is accepted for weight-loss medications. The same page’s content data still carries copy for a compounded-semaglutide variant at $249 per month with medication included and a pre-order flow, and a company blog post notes that the FDA declared the semaglutide shortage over on February 21, 2025; whether that variant is open to new patients was not established from the pages checked. Inside Telehealth reports these as the company’s program descriptions and does not evaluate any treatment.
Availability
The urgent-care page and the January 2026 release say video visits are available in all 50 states; the Terms of Service say the service is available only to people located in states where Sesame offers it, without listing them. In-person services depend on which providers list in a given area, and the membership page says prices and availability vary by region; the free annual lab benefit is not available in Washington State. Inside Telehealth has not tested booking. Checked September 7, 2026.
Pricing and insurance
Each listing carries its own price. On September 7, 2026 the homepage said “Visits start at $34,” and the telehealth-visit page said “as low as $34” in its body under a title reading “From $37”; 2022 coverage put the average visit around $40. The Sesame Plus membership costs $10.99 per month or $99 per year and gives $10 off telehealth, primary-care, in-person specialty, and dental visits plus one free lab a year on the annual plan; the page’s examples show a prescription-refill visit at $47 or $37 with the discount, a video therapy session at $75 or $65, an in-person doctor visit at $70 or $60, a dental cleaning at $145 or $135, and an MRI without contrast at $329 or $319. The homepage also advertises a $79-per-month mental-health prescription-refill plan.
Sesame does not accept insurance for visits. The weight-loss program page says insurance is accepted for weight-loss medications, and the January 2026 release gave a $25-per-month insured example for the Wegovy pill, so a patient’s coverage can apply to medication at the pharmacy but not to visit or program fees. Costco pricing remains current: the Costco member page, read September 7, 2026, lists $29 virtual primary-care visits, $79 virtual therapy visits, $72 health check-ups with a standard lab panel and consult, a $99-per-month fertility subscription, a $65-per-month mental-health medication subscription, $45 skincare and $49 women’s-health subscriptions, and 10% off other services, described as available across all 50 states; in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island the check-up covers only the lab order and follow-up visit, with lab fees paid at the facility. The company’s January 6, 2026 update says members already enrolled in the Costco weight-loss program, announced in April 2024 at $179 per three months, keep that rate and their benefits, that new users are directed to Success by Sesame, and that the other Costco discounts continue; Salon reported that the program stopped taking new enrollments on August 26, 2024. The September 2023 announcement of the Costco pricing remains the dated origin of the $29, $72 and $79 offers. Prices were read from public pages and not tested through checkout.
Refund windows are short. The Terms of Service (August 11, 2026) give a full refund for virtual visits cancelled at least 3 hours before the appointment, in-person visits cancelled 24 hours before, and undated services such as labs and imaging within 10 days of purchase once the provider confirms the visit did not take place; refunds are not given for missed appointments, for not receiving a prescription or disagreeing with a clinical outcome, or for requests made more than 10 days after purchase. Memberships can be cancelled up to 48 hours before the renewal processing date, keep access for the rest of the paid term, and carry no prorated refund. The weight-loss program’s own policy gives a full refund only when the subscription is cancelled at least 3 hours before the initial visit; once that visit has occurred the first month is not refunded, cancellation must precede the next billing cycle, and fees for earlier months are not refundable.
Programs and partnerships
Sesame @ Work, announced in November 2022, markets the marketplace to employers of insured and uninsured workers through the employer page; no employer customer is named there. The Costco relationship, announced September 25, 2023, covers discounted visits, check-ups, therapy and subscriptions, the 2024 weight-loss program now closed to new enrollment, and a fertility program announced March 9, 2026 with the clinic network IVI RMA: virtual consultations, personalized care plans, messaging and medication management at $119 per month, or $99 for Costco members, with lab ordering included but fertility medications, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, genetic testing and procedures such as IUI or IVF not included in the subscription. The January 2026 Novo Nordisk collaboration makes Sesame a NovoCare Recognized Care Provider for the Wegovy pill.
Regulatory, legal, and privacy context
The Terms of Service (last updated August 11, 2026) require binding individual arbitration under New York law; the privacy policy was last updated September 23, 2024. A September 7, 2026 web search and a read of the FDA’s March 3, 2026 announcement of warning letters to 30 telehealth companies over compounded GLP-1 marketing found no enforcement or adverse-action record naming Sesame, Inc. or SesameCare in that announcement or the search results; results for the unrelated Credit Sesame were excluded. That is a scoped search, not a clearance. The BBB profile shows an A+ rating and accreditation since December 2022 without displaying complaint counts.
Scale and operating context
The company’s counters on September 7, 2026 read “1M+ patients,” “10K+ board-certified providers,” “$50M+ saved by patients,” and “95% patient satisfaction,” and its January 2026 release said “over 1 million patients served to date”; all are company figures without definitions. Dated third-party figures are 2,500 providers and 150,000 patients served in June 2022. No revenue, visit volume, or headcount is disclosed in the sources checked.
Evidence and limitations
This record establishes the company’s identity, formation, founders, financing through 2022, marketplace model, pricing structure, programs, and partnerships from SEC filings, company releases, the company’s site, dated news coverage, and the Better Business Bureau, read on September 7, 2026. It makes no clinical claims and does not evaluate the care or the weight-loss program. Visit prices vary by provider and were read from marketing pages, including a $34 versus $37 discrepancy on the company’s own pages; the compounded-semaglutide variant’s availability to new patients is not established from the pages checked; Costco member pricing and the weight-loss and fertility program prices were read from the company’s current pages, the weight-loss page through its embedded content data because the page is client-rendered; provider and patient counts are the company’s; no headquarters is asserted because no page checked states one. No Internet Archive capture from the observation date was recorded for the cited pages.
