What the company does
Ro is a privately held, direct-to-patient healthcare company. Its online platform coordinates access to clinicians employed or contracted by affiliated professional practices, along with pharmacy fulfillment, laboratory services, at-home testing, and ongoing messaging. Ro’s current consumer offerings span weight care, sexual health, hair loss, dermatology, fertility testing, and selected daily-health products.
Ro is not the medical practice providing care. Its April 2026 terms say Ro supplies the technology platform, while healthcare professionals associated with affiliated practices make diagnosis and treatment decisions. Some products on the site do not require a prescription; prescription treatment is available only when a clinician determines it is appropriate.
History and ownership
Ro launched in 2017 as Roman, initially focused on erectile-dysfunction care. Contemporaneous reporting identified Zachariah Reitano, Saman Rahmanian, and Rob Schutz as the three co-founders. Ro’s own releases continue to identify Reitano as co-founder and chief executive officer and Rahmanian as co-founder and chief product officer.
The business expanded beyond the Roman men’s-health brand and moved toward a unified Ro identity. Historical brands and properties referenced in the company’s current terms include Roman, Rory, Zero, Modern Fertility, and Dadi. Some legacy names remain visible in product pages and legal documents even when the consumer experience uses Ro branding.
Roman Health Ventures Inc. is privately held. Ro announced a $200 million Series C in July 2020, a $500 million Series D in March 2021, and another $150 million from existing investors in February 2022. Those financing announcements establish that the company is venture-backed, but they do not provide a current capitalization table or prove its present valuation.
Ro also expanded through acquisitions. It announced purchases of Workpath in December 2020, Modern Fertility in May 2021, and at-home diagnostics company Kit in June 2021. The company said these transactions added in-home care, fertility products and research, at-home sample collection, and laboratory infrastructure. This profile does not assume that every historically acquired capability remains available to every Ro customer today.
Services and clinical model
Patients seeking prescription care generally complete an online health assessment. A clinician reviews the submitted information and may communicate through data, audio, or video tools before deciding whether treatment is appropriate. Ro’s terms say telemedicine may be used for diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and patient education. The exact encounter format varies by service, state, and clinical circumstances.
Current service areas observed on September 3, 2026, included:
- Weight care: the Ro Body membership, clinician assessment, ongoing support, laboratory testing when ordered, insurance-navigation assistance for certain medications, and access to cash-pay or insurance-dependent medication pathways.
- Sexual health: erectile-dysfunction, premature-ejaculation, and herpes-related offerings, including branded, generic, and compounded products where displayed and prescribed.
- Hair and dermatology: prescription, compounded, and over-the-counter options for hair loss, skin concerns, and eyelash growth.
- Fertility: Modern Fertility-branded hormone, ovulation, pregnancy, prenatal, and related testing or information products. These services are not all equivalent to telehealth treatment.
- Pharmacy and testing: fulfillment through Roman Health Pharmacy or partner pharmacies, plus at-home sample collection and laboratory services where offered.
Ro’s terms state that a patient may select a pharmacy in the Ro Pharmacy Network or another pharmacy when that choice is presented. The terms also say certain at-home tests require a licensed provider’s order. Readers should not infer that Ro owns every dispensing pharmacy, laboratory, or medical practice involved in a particular transaction.
Availability
Ro’s careers and press pages describe nationwide telehealth, laboratory, and pharmacy services, and the company says it has helped patients in nearly every U.S. county. Those are company descriptions of platform reach, not proof that every service is offered in every state or county.
The controlling qualification is narrower: Ro’s April 2026 terms say its services are intended for people located in the United States and that some services are available only in certain states. They also state a general age threshold of 18, with some services limited to people over 21. A person’s access may depend on location, age, the requested service, clinical eligibility, clinician availability, and pharmacy or laboratory coverage.
Pricing and insurance
Ro does not have one companywide price. Charges can include an online assessment or membership, medication, testing, and other services; billing cadence and cancellation terms vary by program. Prices displayed on public landing pages can also depend on an introductory offer, prescription, dose, supply duration, manufacturer program, insurance result, or prepaid commitment.
On September 7, 2026, Ro’s public Body pricing page advertised:
- a $39 first month, which Ro says it refunds if the customer is not eligible for a GLP-1 medication; the terms add that a customer is not enrolled in the auto-renewing membership unless medication is prescribed;
- ongoing membership of $149 per month on a monthly plan, or $99, $89 or $74 per month on plans prepaid every 3, 6 or 12 months; and
- medication generally billed separately from membership.
The same page displayed starting cash-pay examples of $149 per month for the Wegovy pill and Foundayo pill, $199 per month for the Wegovy pen, and $299 per month for the Zepbound KwikPen. These are a dated snapshot of advertised starting prices, not a quote for any patient. Product, dose, supply, discount, eligibility, and manufacturer-program conditions may change the amount due.
Ro’s general terms say Ro and its affiliated practices do not accept commercial insurance, are not in network with commercial health plans, and are not enrolled in federal or state health-care programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. The Body program nevertheless offers insurance-navigation support for certain weight-loss medications: Ro may check benefits, pursue prior authorization, and send an eligible prescription to a local pharmacy. On September 7, 2026, Ro’s insurance page still named only the Wegovy pen, Zepbound autoinjector pen, and Ozempic for this coverage-check pathway. That possible third-party medication coverage does not cover Ro membership or make Ro an in-network provider. Government-plan and program-specific restrictions require separate confirmation.
Refund terms are narrow. The April 2026 terms say the Body membership renews automatically at the price and frequency shown at checkout; “Once paid, your Ro Body Membership Fee is non-refundable”; to avoid further charges a member must cancel at least 48 hours before the next renewal date, after which access continues through the paid billing cycle; and charges continue “even if you do not request or receive medication” until the member cancels. The one refund the terms describe is separate: the $39 first-month purchase is refunded if medication is never prescribed, and the customer is then not enrolled in the membership. Ro’s returns and refunds page says it cannot issue refunds or accept returns of prescription products and that all sales are final, and asks customers who believe a prescription was filled in error to contact Ro, without promising a refund for that case; product refunds, replacements and disputes are otherwise subject to the dispensing pharmacy’s policies. Inside Telehealth did not test the cancellation flow.
Scale and operating context
Ro’s September 2026 homepage displayed “3,000,000+ members and counting.” Its press and careers pages say the company has helped a patient in nearly every U.S. county. These are company-reported reach statements; Inside Telehealth has not independently audited the member definition, duplication, treatment completion, clinical outcomes, or geographic count.
The same homepage promoted outcome and satisfaction claims, including “Drop 20% of your weight” and “95% love their experience.” This draft deliberately excludes those figures from its summary and facts because the immediately visible page did not establish the study population, denominator, follow-up completeness, or independent validation needed to interpret them.
The company describes ro.OS as the technology joining telehealth, laboratory, and pharmacy workflows. A 2024 Ro announcement said the platform included patient, provider, lab, and pharmacy applications. That description helps explain the operating model but is not independent evidence that vertical integration improves access, quality, cost, or outcomes.
Evidence and limitations
This profile establishes Ro’s legal operator, broad service categories, affiliated-practice model, U.S. limitation, selected acquisitions, and a dated Body price snapshot. It does not rate care quality, recommend a treatment, establish that a particular medication is appropriate, or independently validate Ro’s marketing, member, reach, or outcomes claims.
Several prominent Ro offerings include compounded or off-label prescription uses. Ro’s own pages disclose that compounded products are not FDA-approved and do not undergo FDA review for safety, effectiveness, or manufacturing. Readers should verify the exact product, active ingredients, formulation, prescriber, dispensing pharmacy, regulatory status, renewal terms, and total price presented for their transaction.
This is a nonclinical company profile: it reports attributed public facts and makes no clinical claims. Scoped September 7, 2026 checks of FTC press releases, an EDGAR full-text search, the FDA warning-letter index and web news found no federal or state enforcement action naming Ro or Roman Health Ventures; Inside Telehealth did not review court dockets, so this is not a statement that the company has no litigation. Leadership was re-checked only against Ro’s own press index, which in January 2026 still identified Zachariah Reitano as chief executive. State-level availability, checkout prices outside the Body program, and the corporate relationships among Ro’s affiliated practices were not verified beyond the company’s terms. No Internet Archive capture from the observation dates was recorded for the cited pages.
Ro medication prices
Published monthly pricing and cost components for Ro's named medication programs, from the national medication guides. These are advertised prices, not a quote; availability in a particular state is shown in the state guides. Each product is labelled as one of three presentations: an advertised monthly bundle, a known monthly subtotal (not a final bill), or a record where dose-level totals are not disclosed, which may give only a starting figure or cost components such as a membership.

Ongoing monthly membership is $149. The 0.25 and 0.5 mg figures use Ro's regular $349 medication price; on September 15, 2026 the pricing page advertised those two strengths at $199 as a limited-time price, which would make that subtotal $348. Listed medication prices and prescription strengths are separate offers; availability and eligibility require confirmation.
Eligible 0.25/0.5 mg prescriptions: $199 medication for the first two months with signup by December 31, 2026. With $39 first-month membership the first subtotal is $238; with $149 membership it is $348. Regular medication pricing applies after the offer.

Dermatology: Ro's help-center article "Where is Ro Available?" states that "Ro is licensed to provide service to members in all 50 states and Washington D.C." and then lists, by state, "the states and treatments that are unavailable in those states" because "the selection of our offerings is limited due to telemedicine laws". Skin Care is listed as unavailable in Alabama, Arkansas, the District of Columbia, Mississippi and Nebraska; Women's Hair Loss is additionally listed as unavailable in Hawaii, Louisiana and South Dakota; and the Ro 3-in-1 Topical Spray is listed as unavailable in the same five jurisdictions as Skin Care. The states enumerated here are those where none of those hair or skin entries is listed as unavailable, read as the complement of the company's own exception list rather than from a dermatology-specific statement. The article's own timestamp says it was last revised on August 20, 2025 and it still lists Ro Body compounded semaglutide entries, so confirm the current list before relying on it. It does not establish that any particular product, compounded or otherwise, is offered in a given state, that a patient is eligible, or that an online visit will result in a prescription. Sexual health: Ro's help-center article "Where is Ro Available?", which the company last edited on August 20, 2025, states that "Ro is licensed to provide service to members in all 50 states and Washington D.C." and that "there are a few states where the selection of our offerings is limited due to telemedicine laws", followed by a state-by-state list of unavailable treatments. That list names "Erectile Dysfunction" as unavailable in North Dakota, so North Dakota is omitted here. Within the states listed, the same article names product-level exceptions: "Ro Sparks (ED)", a compounded product, is listed as unavailable in Alabama, Indiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Carolina, and also in the District of Columbia; "Genital Herpes" treatment is listed as unavailable in Delaware, Maryland, Nebraska, Nevada, South Carolina, Washington and West Virginia. Ro's erectile-dysfunction page itself states no state restrictions. This describes where the company says its sexual health treatments are offered, not that every product, dose or plan on the page is offered in each state, and it does not establish eligibility, a prescription or a price. | |||||
