What Doctor On Demand does

Doctor On Demand is a virtual-care service branded as part of Included Health. It advertises live video visits for everyday and urgent care, plus scheduled psychology and psychiatry appointments. The company describes urgent/everyday access as available around the clock; that is not a promise that a particular mental-health clinician has immediate appointments.

Its virtual primary-care program is a separate access question. The FAQ says users must have employer or health-plan coverage for that program. The ability to buy an uninsured urgent-care visit does not establish eligibility for ongoing virtual primary care.

History and organizational structure

Grand Rounds and Doctor On Demand announced a merger agreement on March 16, 2021. That release described a transaction still subject to approval and closing conditions, not a completed acquisition that day.

The companies announced completion on May 11, 2021.

On October 18, 2021, the combined business announced Included Health as its new name. Doctor On Demand remains a visible consumer brand rather than a defunct website.

The current group legal page identifies Included Health, Inc. as the contracting platform for its affiliated websites and services. The member agreement separately describes Doctor On Demand Professionals as independently owned professional entities associated with Included Health. A shared brand does not erase the distinction between platform management and clinical practice. This profile does not establish a current controlling shareholder or a practice-by-practice ownership register.

Appointments and availability

The FAQ reports U.S.-wide availability, no subscription charge and online registration with insurance or employer information. The member agreement requires patients to be physically located in a U.S. state where their clinician is licensed at the time of care.

Mental-health visits must be scheduled. The public materials do not establish an identical service menu, insurer network or appointment supply in every state. We did not create a patient account or test individual clinician availability.

Advertised visit prices

The cost and insurance page lists these self-pay fees, checked September 8, 2026:

Appointment Advertised fee Stated duration
Urgent/everyday care $99 15 minutes in the FAQ
Psychology $134 25 minutes
Psychology $184 50 minutes
Initial psychiatry $299 45 minutes
Psychiatry follow-up $129 15 minutes

These are consultation charges, not monthly subscriptions or medication-inclusive program prices. The FAQ says extending a call can incur another fee.

For insured and employer-sponsored users, the company advertises visits that may cost $0, depending on benefits. Its interactive insurance tables are plan-specific; their ranges should not be combined into one universal insured price. Actual benefits and the appointment quote control an individual patient’s cost.

The cost page also advertises Medicare acceptance for urgent and everyday video care. However, its $0-copay explanation still relies on a public-health-emergency waiver. That dated qualification does not establish a current zero-copay benefit; Medicare users should verify present coverage and cost sharing before booking.

Charges, cancellation and prescription limits

The member agreement describes insurance cost sharing and a process for requesting an estimate when self-paying. It does not guarantee a prescription, and identifies separately performed diagnostics and pharmacy services elsewhere in the clinical documentation.

Section 7 of the member agreement sets a 24-hour appointment-cancellation rule and warns that missed appointments or arrival more than five minutes late may incur a charge. The section does not specify a dollar amount. Confirm the booking’s deadline, fee and refund conditions; no subscription does not mean appointment cancellation is free, and no prescription does not automatically entitle someone to a refund.

Privacy and records

Included Health’s privacy policy says it does not sell member data or share protected health information with advertising platforms or data brokers. The same policy qualifies that statement: some third-party cookie or analytics activity may count as a sale or sharing under state privacy law, with opt-out controls. The distinction between clinical information and website tracking matters. These are policy statements, not independently tested technical findings.

The separate Doctor On Demand Professionals notice explains clinical information uses for treatment, billing and operations, and describes patient access and amendment rights. The distinction matters: a platform privacy statement and a professional practice’s medical-record obligations are not interchangeable documents.

Litigation

An August 18, 2026 court order in Peer v. Included Health, case 4:26-cv-03908-HSG, identifies Included Health as doing business as Doctor On Demand and approves the parties’ choice of an alternative dispute-resolution process. This procedural order establishes the case and that step, not liability, a settlement or a verified final disposition.

Evidence limits

This profile is based on public company documents and dated transaction announcements, not treatment experience or a test of insurance reimbursement. The remaining practical checks are service-specific eligibility, the final bill and booking cancellation terms.

Availability claims

One row per jurisdiction and reported status. Scopes that share a status, attribution, source and observation date are listed together in a single row; a scope the company reports differently keeps its own row. "Company / platform" means the company as a whole, not every service. "Company-reported" means the company said it; it has not been independently checked unless the attribution says so. United StatesMental healthAvailableCompany-reportedDoctor On Demand — Online psychiatry, Doctor On Demand

Doctor On Demand states that it provides psychiatric care in all 50 states. That statement covers psychiatry: the company publishes no equivalent state statement for its talk-therapy appointments, which are booked and priced separately, so treat this as evidence about reaching a prescriber rather than about therapist availability. The company also states that a psychiatrist does not need to be physically located in your state but must be licensed to practice in the state where you are at the time of your appointment, so this is not a local office. It does not establish an available appointment, a particular clinician, insurance or employer coverage, or that any medication will be prescribed.
