What PlushCare does

PlushCare offers online physician visits and therapy. Its service menu includes primary care, urgent-care consultations, chronic care, mental health, sexual health and weight management. Patients book a clinician, attend a video visit and, if prescribed, arrange medication through a pharmacy. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.

This profile covers its direct-to-consumer service. The current terms explicitly distinguish that service from employer, health-plan and health-system arrangements, including Accolade Care. A price or feature on the consumer site should not be treated as the terms of an employer benefit.

History and ownership

PlushCare’s company history names physician James Wantuck and Ryan McQuaid as founders and describes early operations in a San Francisco doctor’s office. That account does not establish a current headquarters address or an exact founding date; neither is inferred here.

Accolade announced completion of its PlushCare acquisition on June 9, 2021. Accolade subsequently became an indirect wholly owned Transcarent subsidiary when their merger closed on April 8, 2025.

The current terms identify PlushCare, Inc., a Delaware corporation, as a subsidiary of Fabric Labs, Inc., and date that ownership change to July 31, 2026. They distinguish the technology company from physician-owned professional corporations delivering care. The privacy policy, effective the same day, also identifies Fabric as the parent. These are current company legal disclosures, not an independently inspected sale agreement or a claim that Fabric owns every medical practice.

Access, membership and coverage

PlushCare’s service explanation reports physician coverage in all 50 states and describes video appointments on a phone or computer. Its headline footprint does not establish nationwide availability for every therapist, specialty, appointment time or insurer. We did not create an account or test appointment slots.

The standard membership advertises app-based messaging, online care-team support and booking tools. It is not a package of unlimited included doctor visits.

There is also a less-prominent alternative: PlushCare’s limited-access policy says patients can obtain medical services without the enhanced membership tools by calling to schedule. Online/mobile booking and member conveniences are excluded. The terms likewise state membership payment is not required to receive medical services. A separate complete price schedule for this route was not established in the reviewed materials.

What the advertised prices include

Prices below were checked September 8, 2026. The membership page separates the subscription from visit charges; the service FAQ supplies annual membership and therapy pricing.

Charge Advertised amount Important limitation
Monthly membership $19.99/month First 30 days free; renews until cancelled
Annual membership $149/year Annual billing, not a $149 monthly charge
Initial uninsured doctor visit $129 Separate from membership
Insured doctor visit Depends on plan An estimate may change after the claim is processed
Therapy appointment $169 Per appointment, not unlimited therapy
Medication and laboratory work Additional Not included in the advertised visit or membership prices

PlushCare’s marketing says many in-network patients pay $30 or less for a visit; that is not a cap on an individual bill. Membership fees and a doctor’s visit also do not establish the price of any prescribed weight-management medication.

Cancellation and refunds

The cancellation help page directs patients to their account’s payment/insurance settings and says cancellation should be completed at least one calendar day before renewal. The terms say a cancelled paid membership remains active through its current term and does not renew.

The refund policy is narrower than an unconditional satisfaction guarantee. It lists appointment refunds for inability to assess or treat, connection failures, a physician more than ten minutes late, and licensing issues. Pending or unsuccessful insurance verification can also permit cancellation without a penalty. The appointment refund excludes membership fees.

Once the physician has provided an assessment, advice, tests or a referral, the policy generally excludes a refund—even if no prescription results. It also says prescription sales are final. Read those exceptions before interpreting the marketing page’s short refund promise.

Membership litigation

Accolade’s quarterly filing for the period ended November 30, 2023 reports that Robbins v. PlushCare, filed May 8, 2021, challenged subscription enrollment under automatic-renewal laws and the federal Electronic Funds Transfer Act. Accolade reported a $3.7 million settlement, final court approval and judgment in July 2023, and payment in September 2023. It said insurance and acquisition-related indemnification covered the payment. The filing describes a settlement, not a trial finding establishing the allegations.

Privacy and remaining questions

The privacy policy distinguishes its public-platform policy from protected health information and from separately governed employer programs. It describes analytics and advertising cookies, cookie preference controls and applicable opt-out rights. Those statements are not an independent test of data flows or regulatory compliance.

The principal unresolved consumer questions are the final insurance-adjusted bill, a complete limited-access price quote and service-specific availability. This profile reports public documentation rather than personal treatment experience.

Availability claims

One row per jurisdiction and reported status. Scopes that share a status, attribution, source and observation date are listed together in a single row; a scope the company reports differently keeps its own row. "Company / platform" means the company as a whole, not every service. "Company-reported" means the company said it; it has not been independently checked unless the attribution says so. Read each row's note.

Availability claims for PlushCare
JurisdictionScopeStatusAttributionObservedSource
United StatesChronic careAvailableCompany-reportedPlushCare — Primary care, PlushCare

PlushCare's primary-care page lists chronic care management, described as collaborative care plans for diabetes, hypertension, asthma, thyroid disorders and more, among its primary-care services, and its FAQ answer naming chronic conditions among the services offered states in the same paragraph that patients in all 50 states can easily book appointments to discuss their health concerns with a board-certified physician. That is a statement about where appointments can be booked, not a state-by-service table, so it says the ongoing-condition service is offered from anywhere in the country rather than which clinician or appointment time is available to a particular patient. It does not establish a separate monitoring programme, enrolment step or supplied devices; the page describes ongoing care delivered through repeat visits. The District of Columbia is not named, so the record enumerates the fifty states only. The membership and terms pages cited on the hub row make no state statement.

United StatesMental healthUnknownCompany-reportedPlushCare — Mental health, PlushCare

The company states it does not have psychiatrists and that its therapists do not prescribe; mental-health medication is handled by its physicians, and it says it cannot prescribe controlled substances. For therapy it publishes a count of 49 states without naming them, and state landing pages exist for more states than that. Confirm therapist availability for your state before paying.

United StatesPrimary careAvailableCompany-reportedPlushCare — Primary care, PlushCare

PlushCare's primary-care page states that patients in all 50 states can book appointments to discuss their health concerns with a board-certified physician, so a visit can be arranged from anywhere in the country. That sentence describes the company's service range in general and sits in the page's FAQ rather than in a state-by-state service table, so it says where the service is offered, not which clinician, appointment time or individually listed service is available to a particular patient. Access is membership-based with the visit charged separately, and the same page states that Medicaid is not currently accepted.

Company reports physicians licensed in all 50 states. Service, clinician, appointment and insurance availability remain separate; not every offering was verified in every state. No enrollment test.
